For an Austrian customer we developed a lamp sorting station where the mercury filtration of the dismantling line has been used. Customer's benefit will be here also the work safety for the lamp sorting person, since in case of breakage of lamps, mercury emissions will be avoided in the same way as done with the disassembly line.
SIM cards are containing a microchip vapour coated with precious metals. The SIM card treatment concepts known to date were focusing on data destruction and not on material recycling. The small amounts of materials and precious metals were lost. URT has developed a plant with which not only SIM cards but also SIM cards including outer packaging can be shredded and furthermore automatically separated into components like plastics, foil, paper and metal parts.
This first plant has been also successfully installed at a customer in Brazil in 2015.
Under the requirements of EU Directive 2002/96/EC, toner cartridges must be removed from printers and copiers prior to treatment in Recycling plants. This directive is relevant in South America too and ist Contents have been integrated into manufacturer obligations in Brazil, a country in which URT Germany has played a central role in creating a dedicated recycling plant.
