Project Description

A lithium-ion battery recycling plant in Rotterdam is in operation, partly engineered and commissioned by URT. The facility is designed for the treatment of lithium-ion batteries under industrial operating conditions.

The plant is configured for a processing capacity of 2 tonnes per hour. The process is based on thermomechanical treatment under inert conditions, including mechanical shredding and vacuum distillation drying for controlled removal of electrolyte components.

The installation was integrated into an existing building, structurally adapted to accommodate the plant layout. The plant concept includes provisions for capacity increase through integration of an additional drying unit.
